We at BIHS are proud to offer students meaningful learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. Our graduates go onto colleges, universities, fellowships, and work opportunities across the United States and the world.

In order to run a high-quality program in a public school setting,

we need your support.

Why do we need support? BIHS funds and volunteers have enabled us to provide:

  • Experiential learning opportunities, including field trips in all grade levels, guest speakers, and showcase events,
  • Equity-focused and targeted support, including the BIHS Support Class and Extended Essay advising,
  • Community development, including BIHS Graduate Celebration and family events,
  • High-quality instruction and assessment, including IB curricular resources, IB assessments, and teacher professional development.

How can you help?

DONATE TO BIHS. Whether you can donate $1 or $1000, every bit is incredibly important for sustaining and growing our programming for students. $25 pays for 1 student to attend the Exploratorium, $100 pays a speaker honorarium, $1000 pays for 6 teachers to participate in a day-long BIHS planning retreat. Our goal is to raise $45,000 this year.

You can donate online at (send an email to designating BIHS as the recipient), in cash, or via check payable to BHSDG (BIHS in the memo line), P.O. Box 519, Berkeley, CA 94701-0519.

VOLUNTEER. We need volunteers who can:

  • Chaperone a field trip, speaker event, or assembly
  • Proctor oral assessments or IB exams
  • Organize a fundraiser
  • Plan or support BIHS Senior Graduate Celebration
  • Serve as CAS Advisors or Extended Essay Editors
  • Support BIHS communications
