If your student would be in an IB standard (SL) or higher level (HL) course by sophomore year, but wants to take an IB exam in a subject, the student is advised to not take the subject for a year, and pick it up in the junior year. Students can only take IB exams in the 11th or 12th grade as per IB’s rules.
